Effective phosphorus removal procedures from high-phosphorus iron ores are very likely to be ore-specific due to the significant variations in ore compositions, and to the presentation of phosphorus in the various high-phosphorus iron ores. Irrespective of ore composition, a general processing chart for phosphorus removal will have some common steps, including:
17/12/2015 The possibility of phosphorus removal from high phosphorus iron ore using combined microwave pretreatment and ultrasonic treatment was studied. The improvement in Fe grade and the decrease in impurities after ultrasonic treatment is
Xu et al. investigated the phosphorus removal of oolitic hematite ore of high content of iron by applying a reductive calcination with dephosphorizing agent (Na 2 SO 4 and Na 2 CO 3). The calcined mass was subjected to two stages of magnetic separation and grinding. The phosphorus content dropped from 0.82% to 0.06% and iron from 43.65% to 60.23% with 87% mass recovery. Analysis showed that 20 ...

To remove phosphorus from iron to a desired level, a charge of the iron is melted in a vessel followed by either (i) supplying gas such as 40% CO 2 +9% CO+51% H 2 to the charge before melting is complete, or (ii) adding, to the charge, iron which is partly or wholly oxidized equivalent to adding iron ore of up to 8% of the charge weight, or a combination of (i) and (ii), such as would at 1600 ...
M.J. Fisher-White, in Iron Ore, 2015. 12.2.2 Phosphorus removal from oolitic hematite ores. Oolitic ironstones are composed of spherical or oval concentric layers of iron oxide, silica, and other minerals. The Ningxiang ore from the Hunan and Hubei provinces in China is used as the example of oolitic ironstone in which the phosphorus is associated with hematite. The removal of phosphorus from ...
Chemical treatment uses a metal salt, most commonly iron, to precipitate ortho-phosphate. The precipitate forms as a solid and is removed in a solid’s removal process, either a settlement tank or a tertiary solids capture process such as a disc or sand filter. In order to ensure that the new consents are met the industry has been carrying out its own research under the Chemical Investigation ...

Processes For Phosphorus Removal From Iron Ore A. Phosphorus can be removed from iron ore by very different routes of treatment. The genesis of the reserve, the mineralogy, the cost and sustainability define the technol ogy to be applied. The articles surveyed cite removal by physical processes flotation and selective agglomeration, chemical leaching, thermal and bioleaching processes.

Alkali-leaching and acid-leaching were proposed for the dephosphorization of Changde iron ore, which contains an average of 1.12% for phosphorus content. Sodium hydroxide, sulfuriced, hydrochloric and nitric acids were used for the preparation of leach solutions. The results show that phosphorus occurring as apatite phase could be removed by alkali-leaching, but those occurring in the iron ...
Fundamental experiments were conducted with the aim of crude separation of the phosphorus contained in high-P iron ore prior to the ironmaking process. By reducing high-P iron ore with lime and graphite at an appropriate blending ratio and temperature, a reduction product was obtained consisting of a P-concentrated phase, metallic Fe with low P, and an Fe oxide-containing phase. The reduction ...

Finally, enhanced biological phosphorus removal can be deployed, in which specific bacteria are selectively enriched and accumulate large quantities of phosphorus within their cells (up to 20% of the mass). When the biomass enriched in these bacteria is separated from the treated water, these biosolids have a high fertiliser value. A well-buffered system maintains the pH where biological ...
